March 13, 2013 CAJUN INVASION DONATES $2,000 TO THE LOUISIANA FOUNDATION FOR CANCER CARE
LAFAYETTE, La. - Cajun Invasion, the first dragon boat racing team in Louisiana, made history
again this week by making a $2,000 donation to the Louisiana Foundation for Cancer Care.
The funds will help cancer patients in Louisiana receive much needed treatment and support
services, such as transportation to and from radiation therapy appointments. Nancy Duhon,
Ann Roberts, and Delores Blaire of Cajun Invasion presented this check tothe Foundation and
its partner, Oncologics, on March 13, 2013. “We are thrilled that Cajun Invasion has so generously donated these funds to help cancer
patients in the Acadiana area,” said Nichole Forstall, Regional Director of Operations for OncoLogics.
“Because of their generosity, will now be able to provide transportation to cancer patients who
would otherwise not be able to receive the treatments they need to heal. We are so grateful,
and encourage everyone to learn more about this incredible team.”
These funds are only available for donation because of the fundraising efforts of Cajun Invasion
and the generous donations of their many supporters. The organization’s primary fundraiser is
the Annual Pink Ribbon Jam – the 4th annual event was held in October 2012 at Blue Moon Saloon.
Background:
The mission of the Louisiana Foundation for Cancer Care is to assist, inspire, empower and provide
hope for cancer patients.
The Foundation has supported research and provided financial aid, transportation and other services
to cancer patients throughout the Acadiana area so they can receive life-saving cancer treatments.
Cajun Invasion was founded in 2006 and members include breast cancer survivors, survivors of other
cancers and supporters.
Cajun Invasion strives to raise public awareness about cancer and encourages a healthy lifestyle through
the sport of dragon boating.
The racing team has participated in many dragon boat races throughout the country, as it promotes the
need for early detection and physical exercise, all in an effort to offset the impact of a cancer diagnosis
and the effects of treatment.
