Thursday 19th of October 2017

The 4th Annual Pink Ribbon Jam took place at the Blue Moon Saloon on the first Sunday in October to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was a beautiful and sunny day.  The event was kicked off in early afternoon with the sounds of Donnie & the Pooldoos.  One of our favorite members, Phil, is a part of that band. The Silent Auction began and then The Wayne "Blue" Burns Band took to the stage.  What a fantastic Blues Band!  "Blue" has played all over the world and while playing bass with Clifton Chenier he won a Grammy!  Then there's Mr. Tee Don on drums. He grew up in a musical family. His father made the first Zydeco Rubboard for Clifton Chenier and he continues in the family tradition.  One of his rubboards resides in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC !  While the crowd was busy filling out raffle tickets, bidding on auction items, and eating some of Mr. Paul Landry's delicious jambalaya, the Mercy Brothers took the stage.  Now I've never heard gospel music like that. They are truly a Holy Ghost Explosion!  All churches would be packed if they played in the choir.

It was a great day for Breast Cancer Awareness.  A wonderful time was had by all.  We would like to thank the Blue Moon Saloon, Lowry's Printing, the bands, auction donors, raffle donors, Paul Landry (jambalaya), Lisa Folse (petit fours) and all guests that helped make this event successful.  See you next year!
