Members of Cajun Invasion enjoyed a year end retreat at beautiful Chicot State Park.  We paddled the dark waters of Chicot Lake and enjoyed nature and the changing of the leaves.  We gave a dragon boat paddle clinic on Saturday morning which was open to the public.  We had a few takers including some park staff.  They all paddled with us and were surprised at how fast we got that 40 ft. boat up and flying across the smooth black lake.

While there, some of us enjoyed the pine needle basket weaving class, while others went biking or just relaxed and enjoyed nature and the beautiful scenery.  We all enjoyed the camaraderie and meals along with S'Mores around the mandatory evening campfire.

Before saying good-bye to the park, some members enjoyed a very informative nature hike along the trails of the Arboretum guided by Emma, the park horticulturist.  A few others opted to paddle their kayaks into the nooks and crannies along the edge of Chicot Lake.

We hated to pack up and leave but, hope we will be able to enjoy another such beautiful weekend paddling on Chicot Lake or any of the other wonderful waterways in southern Louisiana.
