WOW...What a weekend!  It began for us on Friday evening with a social for the out-of-town teams.
It was great getting together with friends from Austin Coolers, Houston Heat and DUC Delite as well as making new friends from the KLM Dutch Blue Dragons and the Arizona Gila Dragons teams.

Saturday, after the Awakening of the Dragon, the races began.  Cajun Invasion participated in 2 - 250m races as well as the Competitive C Team Finals.  We shaved seconds off each heat as the day wore on beginning the day with a time of 1:24:08 and finishing in the Finals with a time of 1:16:24 ! Now that's how to bring it on! We also paddled in the staggered start 2000m race.  Bravo for Bill as he maneuvered his Cajun Invasion team around the fountains three times for his first weekend of race steering!

Sunday brought the 500m races.  After paddling in Round 1 of the 500m races coming in at 2:04:34; we then powered up for a 1st Place win to become Champions of  the Breast Cancer Survivor Competition with a time of 2:01:21.  This was followed by the beautiful and touching BCS Ceremony complete with pink roses and carnations.  We love the ladies of Pink Phurree and All Hands Abreast, two awesome BCS teams out of Houston.  Then it was back in the boat for the Womens Only BCS 10 Woman 100m Race.  The Cajun Invasion ladies finished 1st with a hard fought time of  56:93.  Jumping straight out of that boat and into the Power of Women boat for another women's only 100m race.  Whew! And, we managed to pull off another 1st Place win with a time of 52:14.  To finish off  the day of racing, Cajun Invasion paddled in the 500m Community A Final and came in very respectfully with a 2nd Place finish and a time of 2:00:01.  Again, improving as the day went on.

The competition was fierce again this year with KLM Blue Dutch Dragons , Team Skittles, and the Arizona Gila Dragons adding to the always competitive teams of Austin Coolers, Houston Heat, DUC Delite, ExMar and Hybrid Dragons.  But, we love it when they Bring It On!

We would like to thank Texas Dragon Boat Assoc. for putting on another wonderful event and look forward to next October when we can do it all again!
